Naim Uniti 2 USB / iPod connection

Posted by: Bluetoo on 18 October 2012

Hi

I'm new to all this so forgive me if I appear inexperienced!

My Uniti 2 is a couple of weeks old and all inputs (analogue/digital/ phono stage/ UPnP streaming etc) are all working fine. When I plug my iPhone 4 or a USB stick in (I have tried different iPod/USBs leads and drives) - none are recognised.

This is the first time I have tried using this input and all the devices work in other machines. No error message - just a display saying No Device - connect USB / iPod.

There appears to be no power coming from the socket as the iPhone does not charge and the light on the USB does not come on - I have checked settings mens to no avail.

I tried turning the Uniti off overnight and then reconnecting it and both the iPhone and the memory stick were recognised and I could play from both, but after switching inputs and then back again - same problem - no device recognised and no power going to either USB or iPhone.

Should I return the unit to my Naim dealer or is there a solution that any of you know of?

Many thanks

Mike

Probably a stupid suggestion... But have you checked that the iPod interface isn't disabled? Page 11 of your user manual gives the instructions.

Thanks for the reply - yes that is all enabled. My excellent dealer is arranging for a new unit to be delivered next week.

Very impressed with the customer service

I'm having the same problems. Sometimes it recognizes my ipod classic but most of the time it doesn't.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Axel

I have sent it for a service few days ago, will report. Is ipod classic on a list of supported devices?

As far as I know the ipod classic is supported. I'm under the impression that the problem is software related. (interference with my wireless network ?)

Best regards,

Yep, I had same experience, when wifi is used USB is usually disconnected and unrecognized frequently, but I had tested USB with wired network connection as well and still had problems, so ...

Best, Marko

ps. Is CD player OK? Or have troubles reading some CDs?

My iPod classic (the latest one) works perfectly with my SuperUniti, which I imagine works the same way as the Uniti2.

Tested without network and the problem remains. I'll think I will have to send it for a service as well.

Thx for the replies.

Best regards

From the original post - I returned the Uniti and problem solved ( new unit). However this one skipped on CDs and I returned again. So far problem free for the last few months. Fingers crossed. I reckon due to the cost if it ain't right - send it back! Mike

Thx.

I am waiting for my uniti2 to come back and in the mean time looking for powerline.

I considered a power line - but thought I'd wait a few months - I don't think my room acoustics would allow a true benefit. What speakers do you run?

Dynaudio Focus 380, first I will try with powerline, then switch for Superuniti or add Nap250.
