UnitiQute vs UnitiLite for small room

Posted by: Stephen Tearne on 18 October 2012

I'm finally looking to take the plunge into streaming music (flac format) and I'm pondering the UnitiQute and UnitiLite. I will keep around 250cds so cd replay will feature but I expect the convenience of streaming to reduce its importance to me. Compactness is also important. I don't tend to listen at high volumes and I don't expect to be acquiring much high res music. For those reasons I'm wondering if the Lite would provide much of an improvement over the Qute

My current system is Olive CDX/CDPS/Cambridge Audio 650A/Royd RR2s (bit lopsided after a previous bout of downgrading) and I'm pondering selling the CDX/CDPS and amp. As I see it I have a few options -

1. Keep the CDX and use with the UnitiQute

2. Sell CDX/CDPS/amp and use the UnitiQute fed by my Philips BluRay player as transport - cheapest option

3. Sell CDX/CDPS/amp and go for the UnitiLite - not sure if this would be worth an extra 650GBP over the Qute

I intend to get a listen to the options although being unfamiliar with streamed music through a proper system I'm not sure how much I'll get from the dem

That's what I do ... add Vortexbox or similar to server your FLACs ... if you add some TD150 speakers and forget about the CD player then that is my office system.

Hi,

thanks for the reply. That is what I was leaning to although probably starting with an old pc as the media server
