end of the squeezebox

it seems that logitech will not be making this anymore

In a way, the decision makes sense, because the heart of the system was the software, which can be made to run on an ipad, ipod, laptop, android tablet.

Nevertheless, the touch is a very nice sounding machine, and the transporter even more so.

shame that this isn't made anymore...

Yes, the the sign of technology moving on.  I can remember yearning for a Transporter years ago (no, not the lorry that changes into a robot!).....

I was also sorry when Roku stopped making the Soundbridge (my first streamer from 10 or so years ago).  My first taste of Internet radio.

One day the Naim ND series will be obsolete as well, but not for a while (I hope)...

but the squeeze sofware lives on  - seemingly folk are running it quite happily on a raspberry pi, which means you can get a Touch like streamer for under £30!

I hope they have a business model for maintaining the software going forward.

I doubt it - they weren't too strong on support when I would call them before they discontinued the product.  The phone service reps were looking in a manual - I knew as much about it as they did without the manual.

George.

I still have a Pinnacle Soundbridge, plugged into my Tivoli One for audio. Also my first taste of Internet Radio.

It's still a little lovely machine, and although it's beginning to miss the connection sometimes (as happens to me too, to be honest), it's the most friendly, easy to use plug-n-play player I have in the house (along with a Revo Blik and an Evoke Flow).
