Unitiqute Fault 28 "Bridgeco boot fail"

Posted by: joacim bengtsson on 27 October 2012

Powered the Unitiqute down yesterday to connect an analogue RCA CD player. When I swetched on again the following message showed in the display "Fault 28 Bridgeco boot fail". I have seen a few other posts regarding this issue, but was wondering if anyone has found a fix for it, or if back to dealer/ naim is the only knon solution?

Allt the  Best

So, today i did the one thing I did not try yesterday, I removed and re-inserted the power cord. Guess what, the Unitiqute booted up and is now back to normal!

Thought this perhaps could be useful info...

Anyways, I have mailed naim and the Swedish distributor, waiting for their reply, perhaps Qute still has to be repaired. I'll let you know.

Hi joacim,

today I experienced the exact same thing you wrote about two years ago. I powered down my Qute plugged in an analog source and powered it back up. I got the same Fault 28 message.

Just wondering what you ended up doing? Did the problem fix itself or did you have to sent it to naim?

thanks in advance.

Out of interest, I wonder why you would turn the Qute off when you connect an analogue source. In  30 years of Naim ownership I've never done that. All you need to do is press mute, connect the source, unmute, and off you go.

It wasn't just to connect an analogue source. I needed to temporarily move a mains power filter, so everything needed to be powered down.

This morning upon further investigation I found that the mains cable that goes to the Qute had too much tension on it (I do not have a lot of space behind the Qute/NAP and wall, so power leads were a bit pinched) After wiggling the power cables back into place and giving it some slack, the Qute seems to be back to it's normal self.

@joacim, It happened to my Uniti2, to quote my post at the time -

"Have tried unplugging the mains and waiting etc, it worked a couple of times but alas no more. I think trying to select iRadio drove the final nail in."

Ultimately NAIM/my dealer recommended I return it for the fix.

Do keep us posted.
