UnitiServe/NDX/iTunes

Posted by: mcsucker on 02 November 2012

My US has a music & download folder. My iTunes has quite a lot of download music and it would be rather tedious to copy it to the US.

I have made the iTunes folder shared but although my iMac displays on the web interface I do not know how to get iTunes as a source of music. I am not a techie so if anyone knows how to do it then step by step instructions would be appreciated!!

Secondly the US is set up to back up overnight to a NAS, it only backs up the Music folder so I have to manually backup anything I copy to the download folder. Can I automate the process?

I've never tried it, but if you declare the folder that has all of your iTunes music in it as a uServe "share" and the uServe doesn't see the music, then I am pessimistic about that working (due to the wonky way that music is organized by iTunes in folders).  I think that you're going to have to copy the music into the Downloads folder or into a new folder that the uServe will see as a "share."

I'd hope that you can use the uServe backup utility to also back up the Downloads folder content.  I've not tried that either as my uServe is off getting updated to the version that supports the Downloads folder.  But I will want to do such a backup and hope that it's possible!
