Terry Callier RIP

Posted by: bigball on 03 November 2012

Just caught the news that Terry Callier passed away in hospital this week. This is very sad news - another of  the great talents of the past 40 years who is no longer with us .

Terry was re- discovered in the 90's having been around from the late 70's. He was coaxed out of life as a computer programmer by a British dj I believe.

His albums are all superb. A cross of jazz soul - Boz Scaggs is a reasonable comparison.

His music is a pleasure especially as quality of recordings is excellent. His live albums are also a pleasure.

A few weeks ago I noted that Fopp were selling some of his old stuff on vinyl - all good stuff .

If you aren't familiar with him I can recommend checking him out.

Terry - I for one will miss you

Hi Barry,

You obviously haven't been on the forum this week as Terry's passing has been posted a few days ago.

Good to speak the other day. Are you going to need any of that special alcoholic liquid soon?

See you soon.

Steve

PS You must post your experience of the Loricraft on the forum soon.

Hi Steve - don't you just hate it when that happens !!

Not sure if you have spotted it but special anniversary editions of the 1st two Blue Nile albums are being issued - as double ( looks like cd only at this stage). Should be something special.

Ok for juice at the moment - its magic stuff !!

Are you young to Tom Toms 10th?
