n-stream and asset upnp

Posted by: balma01 on 03 November 2012

Using the naim uniti green display I can open my  'asset upnp' server and here I find  a menu called 'playlists' and  a section called 'new albums' where I see  my albums sorted by 'added date', the last album i've added is shown first and so on.

Using n-stream, in the 'new album' section I find my albums sorted by alphabetical order and not by added date. Why ?

It works ok with me - if I navigate as follows on nStream:

Asset -> Playlists -> [New Albums]

I get a list of my latest albums with the newest at the top.

Which version of Asset are you using?

asset 4 and the latest n-stream

Another very strange think is that when I'm in the 'new album' (and as said I see all the albums sorted in alphabetical order) and I press the 'search' field, it appears the 'new album' list sorted by added date as I need. Please help me to solve this annoying issue.

Discovered that turning on the n-stream parameter UPNP COMPATIBILITY MODE I'm able to see the 'new album' playlist.

DaveBk how is  your UPNP COMPATIBILITY MODE parameter ?

Please, can you check if turning it off you can always see the 'new album' playlist ?

Thanks

Hi, I've tried with and without uPnP compatibility mode and get the same results - sorted in date added order as expected. There is a A-Z sort checkbox on the Asset advanced settings dialog box under the browse tree - what is yours set to for playlists?

Personally I find the help info on Asset rather poor as it does not really explain what the settings really change. It took me a while to find the pre-programmed playlists like New Albums, and I still don't really understand how to customise the behaviour.

Also, it would be helpful if Naim could explain exactly what uPnP compatibility mode does - it certainly caches locally and re-sorts, but what else?

Hi,

thanks DaveBk for your help. Unfortunately the  A-Z sort checkbox for playlists is not checked, so this is not  the problem. I will use the n-stram with upnp compatibility for now.

I can say you that if you write to the asset forum, Mr Spoon will always help with an answer. Anyway I use asset since 4 years and I'm able to customize it, if you nedd help just ask.

Thakns again and best regards

this is a good point that balma01 has raised, one that I have mentioned else where and could not get to the bottom of.

If anyone knows the solution please advise and put me out of my missery!

I'm not alone.

Dustysox, did you ask to the official naim support?
