No Man

Hi all, if I have No Man the anthology, which is superb, do I need the individual albums?

Also any other recommendations above No Man and Porcupine Tree?

You are missing everything from Schoolyard Ghosts from 2008, which some say is their finest hour. And a bunch of tunes from Returning Jesus, and Together We're Stranger, everything from Love and Endings, and probably more.

If you like Steve Wilson there is also I.E.M. and Blackfield, and Bass Communion, and especially his two solo records.

And if you like Tim Bowness there is the Memories of Machines record.

Plenty to explore.

Hi Gary,

I just spent 30 minutes gathering info for you and got the 'gears' visual after submitting

...then nothing

I'll try again tomorrow

That's happened to me more than once Denis, and its a drag.

Now, if I am doing a longish post, I always copy the text before pressing 'submit' or whatever it says.

Then, when the gears crunch and disappear all that is needed is paste. Saved me lots of time doing that.

Cheers Denis

Regards

David

Mr Click,

You forgot to mention Anathema as well ;-)

Those spinning cogs can be a real PITA can't they.

Thanks for your comments, will look to go through the back catalogue.

I hadn't hear of Anathema, where would you start?

Hi Gary,

I recommend your no-man journey starts with these cd/dvd's...

Both will give you a valuable insight into Steven Wilson's first real band, before Porcupine Tree.

Buy them here - https://www.burningshed.com/store/noman/

Here is most of SW's discography (download a free PDF) for reference...

http://www.voyage-pt.de/swdisco.html

Porcupine Tree's home page has an excellent Media Player to sample videos & music...

http://www.porcupinetree.com/

Oh, I nearly forgot, Steven has a new solo album coming out next year & some session videos have been captured here @ SWHQ - http://stevenwilsonhq.com/

Good luck & enjoy

Thanks for your help all, really appreciated. Steve Wilson has so much talent it's hard to believe he isn't  more widely recognised......

Loving everything so far so will explore the rest if your recommendations.

Thanks

Gary

Hi Gary,

I have lots of Steven Wilson related material in LP/CD/DVD media. If you would like to hear stuff before you buy, I would be happy to pop round if your not too far from Essex. My email is in my profile if you want to get in touch.

Very kind offer Dennis, thank you. I am in Norwich so not a million miles away but not popping round distance. If you are ever out this way let me know.

In way of an exchange if you like the more melancholy music of Steve Wilson then try the Norwegion band Airbag, crap name I know but their album identity is beautiful. Don't bother with the vinyl it sounds really digital and no better than the cd.......
