I have looked in FAQ's - Advice doesnt seem to make sense to me
- after which there is a convoluted discussion about the merits or otherwise of cameras etc
You can press on the button below the existing thread ( post reply) button.
You can also click on the small square icon at bottom Right of any of the previous posted comments. This brings up the existing box and you can the in a reply above or below that last comment

Sorry misread question
Cloud9,
you'll need a 3rd party host for your photos - e.g. Photobucket et al..
Upload your photos making sure they're not too big - resizing them to be online friendly saves time and space.
Then in your post reply click on the tree icon in the header toolbar. There you can insert the direct link to your photo. This is very important - it must be the direct link. I use Photobucket and this makes it a simple one click process to copy the direct link, which can then be pasted in the right box in your post. The dialog box gives you the ability to preview the image before posting and label it as well if you so wish.
When posting a reply, you should see an icon on top of the text box (looks like a picture of a tree)
Click on this icon and another box comes up. You need to insert the full URL address of the photo into the box and it hold pear in your posting.
If you want to upload a personal photo, you need to use a web picture host service and list that URL
And I can do it from my PC / laptop but never from my iPad which is a great piece of kit but in some area useless!

Strange? I can post from my iPad!
The problem is I can't seem to select to copy the photo link from Photobucket or other such sites.

Can you not just hold your finger on the item, which gives you the option of select or copy?

Richard,
This is the most useful thread on the forum for posting simple pictures.

I use Imageshack.

Yup; Imageshack works for me too. It's free and will store one's own photos if you create an account.

Richard,
If you can use Imageshack just copy the Direct link and paste into the insert image box. Works every time for me.
Hope you're well.
