Apple Remote App can access iTunes from a sleeping Mac !

Probably I was the one who was sleeping but I've just stumbled upon the fact that the Apple Remote App can now access ( wake ? ) my iTunes library and stream ALAC files via Airplay to my Uniti via Apple TV.

Simply fantastic - no longer any need to trek upstairs to switch on or wake the Mac in order to stream my music. Just do it via iPad or iPhone from the sofa.

Am I correct in saying that , not so long ago, this was not an option which was why the MacMini option was chosen by many ?

No the MacMini is hard-wired via Toslink to the digital IN of the audio equipment. This is quite different from the AirPlay concept.

Martin, in the energy saving prefs make sure that wake for network access is enabled. You should then be set.
