Football.....DI Matteo

No not a Gooner but a Goner. I cannot believe the Russian, guy gives him the Champions League trophy a few months ago and now kicks him into touch.

What does a guy have to do to keep his job at Chelsea?????

I may be a Fulham sth but i like Di Matteo, always conducted himself very well on TV,never bad mouthed others and now the poor sod is history(but with a nice pay off)

Looks like good old arry could be spoilt for job offers soon,

Not surprised, it was always on the cards. His dressing room influence saw him through when he was caretaker manager at the end of the last season but the 'honeymoon' factor was never going to last. As you say he's a nice guy but I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. If Pep Guadiola, pardon the spelling, was available at the beginning of the season Di Matteo would have been out of the door before Chelsea had played their first game after winning the European Cup.

I'm with you mista h. Think Di Matteo has presented himself very well and deserves a new opportunity with a more appreciative club.

9 managers in 9 seasons suggests that the big Russian fella appears to be a power and status man, ensuring he keeps the managers in their place, irrespective of their skills!

Aaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

No-one wants Benitez. I doubt he'll have the dressing room on his side. What a fkup.

He was never going to last long, but you would expect him to have been given a whole season, at least. Chelsea are hardly struggling - they are going through a bad patch......... you know, the type that my team (North London Lillywhites) go through for the majority of most seasons.

My sympathies are to (true) Chelsea fans. It really sucks how your managers are treated.

Ah well, I'm sure Di Matteo, like the previous 8 managers  will receive a good pay-off.

He's only gone and bloody done it. I can't believe Benitez will be getting cheered in at the weekend. Sh*t. Pants W*nk. B*gger.

As a Man City supporter I'm delighted with the appointment.

As a Man City supporter I bet you're not that delighted about much right now...

Jamie......I get you're not too happy right now. What's the problem with Benitez, is it what's gone before with LFC or just that you don't rate him? His record's not that bad is it.

Mind you doubt he'll be there next season!

I'm pleased we can now concentrate on winning the Premiership again.

A Red

Too functional.

Chelsea isn't, never has been. Somewhat dysfunctional in fact. But we like it that way.

Rude about us in the past. A lot.

A Red

Several run ins with El Jose

Can't run a dressing room

A Red

Always someone else's fault

If he's so brilliant why hasn't he got a job already?

A Red

Don't like him

Can't take pressure

And he's a Red

Same could be said for half of your 'fans'. Johnny-come-latelys etc.

JamieWednesday,

If its any consolation many LFC fans, myself included, think Rafa is far to good for Chelsea too.

You write like you believe all the shite Sky spout.

I've generally had the impression the 'real' Chelsea manager was John Terry. This recent appointment etc makes me wonder if it is actually Torres?

Had to laugh at Chelsea fan on radio this am who suggested it was a good idea because Benitez talked the same language as the Brasilian players. Well Spanish/Potuguese, all same innit.

I'm a very occasional football watcher with no team loyalties. I watched Chelsea vs Juventus and thought the Italians were excellent. Sign-up those centre backs!

Much like Brendan at Anfield?

Nah, just annoying that's all. Who knows he might win us thePremiership and Ch League, then it will all be sweetness and light. It's mainly just down to past history and lack of belief he's the man for the job. We'll see...

Rafa is second to none in terms of tactical awareness and setting up his teams. The mans a genius. With the players Chelsea have he could turn you into a crushing machine, as his Valencia team was called.  My only concern would be whether the fans (and board) will give him a chance, or the players follow instructions.  Really can't see Guardiola choosing chelsea. Ever
