Apple Remote: updated
Posted by: Iver van de Zand on 29 November 2012
Apart from nStream, I use the Remote app on my iPad from time to time to scroll around radiostations and some albums. The Remote app has just been updated and looks very good !!
Thanks Iver. Just updated my Remote App after your comments. You are right. It looks terrific and works perfectly.
The ALAC / Airplay via ATV2 works brilliantly for me and this latest upgrade simply enhances the user experimore even more.
Should read " user experience even more !"
Yes .. I just clicked update .. it download, installed and worked faultless first time and looks terrific ... that's the way to do it.
I didn't realise it had been updated, downloaded and off we jolly well went.
Only thing I've found is it doesn't update the what's playing panel, when playing Radio Paradise so I don't know whats playing.
Thanks for the hint Iver!
Great improvements, like the new Remote interface and functionality a lot. Would have loved to get Coverflow though, maybe with the next update...
Just bought myself an AssetNas. Maybe I should have gone for a Mac Mini instead ;-)
Yes, updated the Apple Remote App earlier today. Not much change on my iPhone 4S but great use of the space available on the iPad. It is simpler to use and looks fresh.Does anyone know what it is like on an iPhone 5?
Just upgraded to iTunes 11 and Coverflow is not there any longer.
One of the best things about iTunes and they erased it from version 11??
How disappointing!

100% yes ... the Mac Mini is superb ... No windows required .. It just works
i think the new remote app is superb ...
Now this is what I call a great forum and thanks Iver for the latest update.
Last couple of days all of sudden the Remote App on my iPhone crashed and failed to detect my home network. Reboot my phone does not help too but my Remote App works fine on my iPad 3. With this new update (just installed), fingers cross it will rectifies the flaw in my iPhone.
I would not dare to upgrade to latest iTune 11 on my Mac Mini as I am not sure Bit Perfect will work with the new version.
Digital system: Mac Mini (iTune/BitPerfect) WW Supernova 6 digital out to nDAC / Powerlined

It certainly is!!
Reason I didn't go for the Mac Mini is because I do have a MBP. Connected to the nDAC it sounds almost as good as my CDX2.2, with the latter possibly just a touch warmer but it is hard to notice a difference at all.
The new Remote is a great step forward. In terms of funtionality and design it has probably nudged the Sonos app into second place now. Both are miles ahead of nStream though, Rovi's aside.
Naim have a long way to go.
IMHO of course...
Have updated the V3 Remote App and love the new interface. It is getting better!
For iPhone, there is little changes.
Upgraded remote on my iPad.. It's ok, it certainly looks pretty. But I wish Apple would develop their controller more like Nstream, or naim let Nstream control my Apple products. I love the Nstream interface now for researching /musing tracks and artists whilst listening, and being able to easily create playlists on the controller. Using Nstream is an interactive expierience, but Apple remote is still very passive IMO.
So perhaps the ideal is the prettiness of Apple with features and interactiveness of Naim... Here's hoping.
