Led Zep - Celebration Day

I am thinking of buying this, but can anyone say what the SQ is like ?

just bought this on cd, truly awful sound. All sounds emanate from the centre of the soundstage between both speakers making the whole thing appear in mono, most peculiar. My abridged Video recording of the concert sounds much better. Can't see this get played much.

I'm just listening for the first time. First impressions are, as someone said previously, the first couple of songs are a (more than) a bit ropey but it does improve immeasurably as it goes on. Just up to Stairway now and that sounds great as did the couple of Presence songs. Blu ray this afternoon. Keep the old folks awake after dinner !

Just coming to the end of the blu ray. Magnificent. Forget all the quibbles this is just superb fun.

Hope then that the 24bit download improves on the CD......G

In relation to a well known acts, I can't think of any recent concert that was released on CD.

It's very hard to get a pristine result from close-mic'ing in a concert situation.

Generally you should not expect excellent results.

You can download from HD Tracks regardless of where you live if you make payment via Paypal.

I'm in Canada and have been downloading from them for over a year with no problems.

Graeme, I subscribe to Boxpn a VPN site it's about £28 p.a. and I link in to their USA site which enables me to buy all HD music. Set up and accessing the site is very simple and you do not download any software. Once I have bought the music I disconnect the link and revert to my normal IP address.

FWIW, I just got my US vinyl from Amazon.  Great pressing and box, and the sound is very, very good.  Haven't heard the CD, so I can't compare.

Anyone got any opinion on the vinyl pressing vs the CD. I don't want to waste any of my hard earned cash if it is not an improvement.
