Hi Res streaming with n-Vi and Apple TV 1

I am so far still very happy with my n-Vi hooked to two vintage JBL front speakers (Apollo's) and one centre speaker (L-40), also vintage. I watch mostly HD movies from the local cable TV provider, connecting the set top box digital sound out to the n-Vi digital sound in via a decent co-axial digital cable. I also have a separate Philips Blu ray player and connect that to the n-Vi also via digital co-ax cables.

For streaming music I currently have a 1st generation Apple TV that syncs with my iMac, which use to rip and store CD's in Apple Lossless format. The Apple TV connects to the n-Vi via a digital optical cable. So I really don't have a high res setup but I like the old Apple TV as it is the most convenient way to showcase family photos.

Given the great advances in streaming and hi res download music what advice would you give for a reasonable cost solution to rip/store/download hi res music (perhaps even include Internet Radio) and still retain my n-Vi and Apple TV setup?
