Downloading XLD

Hello all. Day 1of attempting rippin' n streamin' and problem no. 1 already. (this doesn't bode well). Have bought new superuniti, readynas and MacBook pro and getting things set up.

From reading various forums generally seems the preferred ripping software for mac, but I'm having problems getting hold of this. My computer tells me it's from an unsupported developer and won't take things any further. I can't find it in Apple's AppStore either. Any advice on how people manage to get hold of it?

Go into your Security and Privacy control panel, and change the setting in the General tab to allow applications downloaded from "anywhere" and you'll be all set. That's why your Mac won't let you open it.

You'll still get a 'are you sure you want to open it' warning -- but you can click 'yes' and be off and running.

Hi,

here's a link to a thread where james n has posted his settings for XLD, which served me well. Once installed, it's a very easy, non-invasive software that will rip well.

Thanks for the link Max, but the XLD screen doesn't look anything like James' screen shots! I get a Preferences screen with 6 'pages' (General, Batch, CDDB, Metadata, ...).

Are James' settings for later on in the process?
