I shall be hovering over my computer...

TEE is the one I'm going for, with MM and CW as backups, but to be honest any of them will do...

Tate Mod, what a bunch of Kunst.

They knew demand would be high, yet seemed utterly unprepared. The phone and site are still not working.

Has anyone actually got anything yet?

Posted on: 12 December 2012 by DenisA

The only thing I've got is frustration. The Tate's infrastructure department could do with some capacity planning advice.

Posted on: 12 December 2012 by Basel Boy

Still waiting for everyone else to give up in frustration - may have a better chance of raising the telephone operator then.

Posted on: 12 December 2012 by Kevin-W

Someone at the Tate should get fired for this. Why didn't they invest in a modern phone queuing system?

I see that scum scalpers like Viagogo are already selling tix for hundreds of pounds. Completely unfair. The government should make ticket resale at above face value illegal.

And why hasn't Tate done more to prevent scalping? If Radiohead and Led Zep could do it at the 02, why not Tate?

How does this work then?

I am sure I read on the Tate site that the ORIGINAL purchaser had to turn up with the card used for the on-line transaction and that the tickets were collection only on the night of the performance.

I hope Shakey tickets are easier to buy.

Ron, this has been the biggest farce ever!

Five years ago 20 million people applied for 18,000 Led Zeppelin tickets and it was handled a lot better than this. Tate should have set up a dedicated website, and allocated tickets on the lottery system  used by LZ. That would have been fairer, and stopped the scalpers.

I've already bought my NY tix (as an 02 customer you get first dibs on many 02 venue tickets) and yes, they were easy to get.

£60 to listen to 1 album ?

I think I'll buy all the albums and listen at home, it'll probably be exactly the same.

Just heard on 6Music that tickets have been sold at the venue - what is going on here......

Posted on: 12 December 2012 by Richard S

A complete shambles from the perspective of consumers who did not have a chance to buy tickets. Really frustrated that such an organisation can foul up in this way.

Oh well. This is on its way http://www.spincds.com/live-14...d-edition-500-copies Very disappointing that folks seemed to get tickets by turning up at Tate Ancient....

We contacted our local (Con) MP Henry Smith after the BBC programme investigated high re-sale and so called "fan" sites, he basically said it wasn't important enough to do anything about it.

How do they always manage to get the tickets in the first place?

Posted on: 12 December 2012 by Marky Mark

Total shambles. Sorry to hear others have had similar experiences of the ticketing approach. I was very fortunate to get some though. If something comes up by then I will offer them on at face value on here.

Pleased to hear some music lovers were successful. Did you get yours via the phone, website or in person?.

Having been online first thing and phoned endlessly it was in person.

I know this doesn't really help but I should share the story. Being there really reminded me that they are a charity with just a few staff. These people (think two on the desk being bombarded with questions) were really apologetic and completely overwhelmed. I think they are only taking £60k per night on the door so by the time everyone gets paid there is probably not a lot in it for the Tate itself. I don't think there was any ill intent at all in selling them to people there - they were aware the web and phone systems were failing under the load. I think a manager just took a view and/or panicked as evidenced by their response in the ticket area changing several times in a very short space of time. First off they said a straight no to selling any tickets at the desk. I didn't speak with any staff on the ticketing issues myself but was just fortunate to arrive at the right moment. I am sorry it hasn't worked out for people and will offer them face value on here if something prevents me going.

As someone involved in compliance management, I worked to the stated "rules". Would be interesting in hearing how Tate ancient reconcile this. Next time I'll ignore the rules. No disrespect to those who were successful, the argument is with the Tate.

I called at lunch time. Twenty minutes in the queue and scored some tickets for Autobahn. Friend got me ticket for the Mix.....tickets to be collected on the door with your guests so that should hopefully make it tougher for the touts,........

In retrospect I think BigH47 has the right idea for those of us who were maybe only going out of curiosity or "rarity" value. Last time I saw them, tickets were 75p and albums cost about £3 (1975)

Now:-

2 * Tickets £120

Hotel say £100

Train Fares £100

Food etc £60

Other bits and pieces ??

At nearly £400 thats a lot of vinyl. Apart from maybe a full Floyd show, I cannot think of many LIVING artists or bands I would pay that for in the UK, Neil and CH being another exception but I would not be trying for those tickets on Friday if it was not with The Horse and if I go "local" it will clock in at a lot less than £400.

Rant over
