What are you planning to do tomorrow ?

Posted by: Don Atkinson on 13 December 2012

Probably best to stick to the list of planned activities that are legal, then pop back to let us know how things worked and how much you enjoyed them.

Tomorrow is my day off. I normally take Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, but this week I swapped and have Friday off. So I plan to play around of golf with Mrs D in the morning (I was going to say 9 holes but thought it best to avoid any possible misunderstanding).

Then in the afternoon we will pick up our 4 year old grandson who is comming to stay overnight whilst his mum and dad go to some sort of RAF dinner. The afternoon and early evening (he goes to bed at seven) will no doubt see our hall covered with trucks and trains before we watch a Ben Ten video and do some fairytale reading before bed.

I will then look forward to "Have I Got News For You"

Nothing terribly exciting, but hopefully a really enjoyable day.

Cheers

Sounds like a nice day Don. If your in the UK I hope the forecast rain doesn't put a dampener on your round of golf. My wife has played golf the last 3 days in the freezing weather we've had in the SE. I doubt I'll have time to play until the Xmas break. Something to look forward to. My day tomorrow; work 7am to 2pm then buy Xmas tree and then start emptying 2 rooms in preparation for a new carpet being fitted next week. Actually a round of golf in the rain doesn't sound so bad.

Enjoy your day.

Yes Steve, we are in the UK. If we were in canada, the golf courses we use there are under snow and won't be clear until April...........

Hope you find time for the odd round of golf during the Xmas break

Cheers

The subject is rather wide but not necessarily inconsequential. For example, it might inspire some members to try new activities or lead to elegant discussion about more unusual activities.

fortunately, participation isn't mandatory...........(yet !)

Will certainly ensure I am fully debugged. Used to that anyway after a days work in the hospital.

On the question of this thread, I understood that the padded cell was intended for any postings !

I would not be able to like/dislike the post without reading it first and I thought the reply was justified.

Don,

Which golf course do you play? My wife and I belong to Sandy Lodge in Middx.

Calum,

I started a thread that went on and on about a certain subject and I am quite happy people are still discussing it. People are free, and  it's called democracy, to discuss whatever matters to them. You can choose to take part in it or not! What's your point?

My point is that you are essentially having a conversation with other housewives who have nothing better to do then show off at posh golf and tennis clubs on a Friday while their husbands go out to work. If this is democracy bring back Stalin.

Oh, boy!

Posted on: 13 December 2012 by BigH47

I'm NOT playing golf on Friday or any other bloody either.

A visit and curry seems to be on the cards though on Friday.

I do hope Callum gets out of the other side of the bed tomorrow.

I guess the girls are allowed to show off about their posh hifi systems then?

I traded my work day today with my partner, so a 12 hour+ work day for me tomorrow.

But the reason I traded was so I could attend a job interview and the good news is I got the job, so I will be handing in my notice on Monday.  (Want to at least clear this last pay period, in case they "walk me".)  The bad news is that I am taking a 47% pay cut (that's how much I hate my current job.) But the good news is that it is 15-20 minute commute vs. an hour.  But the bad news is I have to buy my own insurance.  But the good news is that it is a chance to move into something more long-term for me.  But the bad news is it's only a 6 month contract.  But the good news is more 12 hour shifts with no meal breaks, standing literally the entire time, and holding my urine/feces until I am on the verge of a perforated colon with septicemia. (And being told by my boss I need to "pick up the pace.")

It will be a financial struggle for a while because of incredibly high student loan payments on top of the big pay cut, but my health & sanity were seriously on the line.  I hope this portends the start of something good!

Good luck Mark. I hope you have better job satisfaction in your new post.

If you think i am posh just because i play squash & tennis then think again. I am retired and happen to enjoy playing both. Also if i was posh i would not go to watch football home & away most weekends trust me. For your information my tennis membership costs me £115 a year inc court fees. You go find me a hobby that i can enjoy for just over £2 a week all in. And to finish in the bar i dont drink G & t s or Pimms. i am a beer man always have been and always will be.

Great to hear your good news Mark. Hope the new job goes well and life gets better or you.

obvious I know, but make sure you ave a loud job offer in writing before throwing in the notice !

Surely forums, particularly this genteel one, are just a pub substitute aren't they?

Which means you're going to get a pretty wide range of discussion, from how someone's going to enjoy their day off, to the dangers of peddling home absolutely smashed.

Indeed, imagine what it would be like if everyone on here was pissed!

I took a huge drop in salary when I quit London and moved to France, but the quality of life, no commute, weather (in my case - sorry) people, language and culture all mean far more to me than the money did. Within a few years I was doing well enough that my salary/bonus had crept up to where it had been before (although obviously it would have increased had I stayed put). Some things are worth so much more than money and the endless pursuit of 'stuff'.

And it sounds like you've scored one of them - I hope and reckon you'll have a much more enjoyable Christmas now even if the turkey might have to come from Lidl.

Today I'm at work, all day (not much on though). But the forecast for the weekend is sunshine and even warmth so I will spend much of the day mentally planning some long hikes, runs and bike rides.

Just me then...since there is a "y" in the day, I shall be out on my bicycle and end up, coincidentally, at the pub with a few acquaintances where much hilarity will ensue.

Posted on: 14 December 2012 by JamieWednesday

Why do they laugh at you so?

What an incredibly pompous post.Do you own this forum or something?

Nobody's forcing you to take part, or even to read.
