What are you planning to do tomorrow ?
Posted by: Don Atkinson on 13 December 2012
Probably best to stick to the list of planned activities that are legal, then pop back to let us know how things worked and how much you enjoyed them.
Tomorrow is my day off. I normally take Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, but this week I swapped and have Friday off. So I plan to play around of golf with Mrs D in the morning (I was going to say 9 holes but thought it best to avoid any possible misunderstanding).
Then in the afternoon we will pick up our 4 year old grandson who is comming to stay overnight whilst his mum and dad go to some sort of RAF dinner. The afternoon and early evening (he goes to bed at seven) will no doubt see our hall covered with trucks and trains before we watch a Ben Ten video and do some fairytale reading before bed.
I will then look forward to "Have I Got News For You"
Nothing terribly exciting, but hopefully a really enjoyable day.
Cheers

Something to do with lycra, I suspect
Don,
Which golf course do you play? My wife and I belong to Sandy Lodge in Middx.
Steve
Steve, we play at Deanwood Park just outside Newbury.
Its only 9 holes, nothing special but quite pleasant and we only have 5-day memberships (Mon thru fFri) which suits me since I work Sat and Sun.
When we are in Canada BC we play Preditor Ridge (27 holes) where my daughter lives and Vernon Golf & Country Club (18 holes) where our son-in-law is the Head Pro. Now and again we play a short game at "Highlands" (9 holes) out towards Lavington - its basically 5 holes up the mountain side then 4 holes down - twice over.
Neither of us has a handicap (well, other than the fact that we aren't very good) but then neither of us plays to loose !! We aren't serious players, we simply like each other's company and a little bit of fun rivalry
I will now have to look up Sandy Lodge, no doubt to find its an exclusive, competition course, with a membership list full of A Stars and scratch players ! sounds like you enjoy your game too.
Cheers
Don
Steve, Sandy Lodge looks superb. Well out of our league - and we wouldn't pass the assessment round. Not dis-similar to the course out at Kingcleare jus south of here, where again we wouldn't pass the entrance assessment. We aren't good at the game, but we do enjoy it.
Our Son-in-Law is incredibly tollerant of our game and will play with us, without making us feel uncomfortable. He simply knows that we know we are hopeless but happy.
Cheers
Don
Well, we te'd off just before 08:00 and played through the first 4 holes before the really heavy rain persuaded Mrs D that we should return to the club house (she was two shot up at that time).
I've just finished helping our grandson decorate the Xmas tree and he is now quietly singing to himself in bed along the corridor - hopefully that's him settled for the night.
Tomorrow ? back to work.
Cheers

It will be a financial struggle for a while because of incredibly high student loan payments on top of the big pay cut, but my health & sanity were seriously on the line. I hope this portends the start of something good!
I hope things work out for you Mark. Balancing finance and sanity can be a hard act sometimes. Good luck and best wishes.
A few years back I had to make a choice between taking on well-paid consultancy work (lots of stress and tension in an office) or stay with hands-on flying as an instructor (the pay is almost negligable). I'm still glad I chose the latter, despite the financial disadvantage.
Cheers
Don
Don,
Sorry to hear your game was rained off. My wife and I took up golf about 6 years ago from scratch. Pardon the pun. It's a great game for couples although we tend to play together more on holiday as my wife plays during the week and I play at the weekend. It provides a great social focus as well and Sandy Lodge is a very friendly club.

Today included a flight to Filton airport, Bristol.
Nothing special, except Filton closes as an airfield at the end of this week. Bought up by the same developer that bought Plymouth (I think) and who is apparantly looking at Robin Hood airport as well.
Filton was the home to Concord all those years ago and until recently much of the UK's contribution to AirBus Industries. No doubt many other historic icons are associated with Filton.

Pair of Fact 8s being delivered (light oak). Managed to smuggle them in under the domestic radar as we moved house on the grounds that we have a bigger room and they'll suit it more than the n-sats, and n-sub, and they'll look neater ... Anyway, amazingly it worked and I can't wait. Local dealer has a sale on so they came in at 15% less than normal, and got decent trade-on price on the N-sats. Delivered by PMC to dealer's in 2 days. That's what I call good service.

Very jealous CP - these are my 'aspirational' speaker. Listening to some Twenty 24s tomorrow and Facts after Xmas. Just wondering how I can manage a £5k under the radar purchase!
Let us know how you get on with them.
Well nothing, really. We will have all been painfully incinerated as a large meteorite ends all life on the planet (or not).

The Twenty.23 is better ime. G

I thought that was meant to happen a week or so ago at 12:12 hours (UTC) on 12/12/12.
My bet is on the (or not) option.

Having heard both (24 vs 23) back to back on the end of a top flight Cyrus system today, I have to agree. More wife friendly too!
Hoovering, adding the door runners to my model of a Great North of Scotland Railway goods shed and helping our new (rescue) cat settle in.

I would be prepared to bet everything I own that no-one on earth has written those words in that order ever before in history.

Not quite finished adding the door runners yet. But they're built!

As long as the cat is settled in..........

You could say that...
Fact 8s here and bedding in nicely. Look great, sound great out of the box, but improving with each hour's playing. That's Christmas sorted, given there's nothing on the telly.
Who needs the telly when they've got Fact 8s and a few pieces of well recorded music ?
We know what you will be doing tomorrow.
Cheers
Don
Facts taken a turn for the worse after improving over first couple of days. Was warned this might
happen but they sound v baggy at the moment - horrible messy bass and lack of definition in vocals. Fingers crossed they improve as time goes on.
Hold tight CP things will improve.
Cheers
Don
I will be on the eve of something new !
Cant think what thought at the mo !
Tomorrow, being New Year's Eve, we are off to a local restaurant where the fancy dress theme is "Best of British"
I'm still trying to figure out how I am going to transport all the Naim gear..................
