UnitiQute - No Server Found - Help Please
Posted by: Andrew P.. on 21 December 2012
I have owned a UnitiQute & Western Digital MyBookWorld NAS drive connected through a BT Home Hub for a couple of years.
Occasionally when I turn it on I get a "no server found" message. Normally turning things off & back on sorts it out but this time I have done this multiple times & it still won't see it. My laptop is seeing & accessing the NAS drive no problem so it would seem to be a Naim issue
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Hi Andrew,
i have this problem from time to to time as well. I am sure it is a network related issue to do with the BT homehub blocking upnp traffic. It usually passes in a few minutes, and anything that is in the playlist plays even though the n stream reports server not available.
i have not found a solution yet

After a fair bit of checking router settings (all fine) & fiddling around a full reboot of the NAS drive has sorted it - no idea why it couldn't be seen by the Naim but all ok now
BT Homehub is a clue! I replaced mine with a Netgear router and the occasional but annoying glitches have disappeared. Worth a try for not a lot of money and a big improvement in network performance and reliability.
Hi,
Old thread but I have changed to BT Infinity and now have this issue to with a Home Hub 5. Has anyone found a solution?
Thanks
Wazza69,
There are a few of us with similar problems. I'm in Canada, so there will be differences, but your issue seems to be much like mine. My UQ does not have the latest firmware upgrade, but I have update n-Stream on my iPhone and iPad. Oddly, these two devices have different success rates connecting to the UPnP server, the iPhone 4S being much better than the iPad2.
For me, changing the inputs on the UQ using the remote was often effective (but should not be necessary).
Questions for you? Are you getting access to iRadio, but not the UPnP server? is your UQ wired or wireless to the router? What UPnP software are you using? Mac OS or Windows? Are you turning your UQ off after you use it? Does the UPnP software launch automatically when you start up your computer, and is it still active if the computer has been sleeping?
Just need some details about your system.
I don't turn off the NDX. When I try rebooting it, it will work until I choose the first track and then the no server comes up. Changing inputs etc dosent help. Tried everything. Really frustrating. Currently have a three grand internet radio!
If anyone has any ideas then it would be really appreciated
Thanks
Wazza69,
Since you are wired in all connections, would Apples Remote app work at all? I guess you'd have to use an airport express, or run a minipin cable from the mac to some input along the way. Just thinking of ways to establish that music can get from the mac to the speakers.
I don't know minimserver; I downloaded it, but found it odd, and so went to eLyric pretty quickly. Perhaps trying another UPnP software would be worthwhile. It would establish if there is a problem with minimserver, or if it is some other connection problem.
You could also try removing some of the ethernet cable links, one a time, and trying a wireless connected btw the mac and router/ hub, or btw the hub and the NDX- I assume everything can work wirelessly.
I had to do a reset of my router to make progress; it reset the router name and password to the factory settings. Naturally I had to turn everything off and on multiple times as well.
I really do understand how frustrating this can be. Really really.
