Downloaded Files not recognised by Superuniti

Hello, I'd appreciate any advice if the following looks familiar.

Ripping from cd using XLD is going not too badly (a few glitches I'll look at later), but I've a query on downloaded hi-res files.

I bought and downloaded a hi res flac album from Linn last month and stored it on my Mac (music folder) until I got my nas up and running. Now that my nas is operational, I've tried moving the downloaded album from the mac onto the nas. The nas folder shows the album and all tracks (and artwork) are there, but the superuniti displays only "Empty" when I call up the album for playing.

I've tried copying and pasting the tracks to the nas and dragging and dropping but neither is successful. I've also tried it track by track rather the whole album.

Any suggestions what I'm doing wrong?

Your SU will only see what the UPnP server on the NAS broadcasts to it. So, you may need to get the UPnP server to refresh - you could just wait to see if they eventually appear or you may need to nudge it (don't know what UPnP server you are using, so can't be more specific about this). If these are hi-res files then it's also possible the UPnP server software won't handle them (that's just a guess though, I'm using Asset and it handles hi-res files and refreshes in a timely manner). Cheers Ian

Thanks Ian. I know this is an obviously simple question, but this is all new to me - how would I go about refreshing the Nas (is that a rescan or switching off and on again?). My nas is a Readynas Duo, which I'm assured can handle any files needed by the SU.

Cheers.

I had a ReadyNAS a couple of years ago and it had ReadyDLNA (I think it was called) but I installed Twonky. You can access the UPnP software on the NAS through its console app and there should be an option to rescan or rebuild the library. Cheers Ian

Ian, yes - there's ReadyDLNA. I previously had to disable autoscan in this as it was creating multiple copies (6 -10) of tunes I was copying to the Nas.
I'll try re-scanning which is pretty simple in Raidar, but does rebuilding the library erase all the cd's I've already ripped?
(and happy Christmas by the way)

Rebuilding the library does not do anything to the music files themselves, just the catalogue of them that is exposed to your UPnP control point (e.g. n-Stream). Cheers Ian
