Grrr! Blu ray

Got home and found my RS Grrr! Blu ray copy landed through my letterbox.
Playing it now and am disappointed by the SQ being played through my PS3 feed by optical into my Rega dac.
The dac locks in a 44.1 -48 khz instead of "high def"! Even a normal 16bit Cd sounds better in same setup.
Am I missing something?

Could it be all the down conversion and stereo conversion having to be done by the  poor ps3 .
Bluray is limited rate output via spdif and optical.Hdmi is the only way to get the higher rate I believe.
I play dvds from my comp via usb  to my usb dac and its 96khz( limited by the dac btw)
Im gonna add a bluray drive to my comp to get round the problem you are experiencing.
