Biggest joke at this hospital is parking, about 10 of us driving round playing ring a ring of roses trying to find a parking space......hopeless,had to park out in the street in the end.

Steady now H, you could end up having to see a cardiac consultant as well

That is why my picture is not my avatar, out of kindness to the rest of you lot.

Our Sonja had a very smart business suit on,mid 40s i would say with plenty of leg showing when she sat next to me. Now where are my tablets for blood pressure!!

The way my lucks going at the moment she probably owns Naim kit and will be on this M/B tonite.

That will me done for on my next visit

The sister hospital in our Trust had it's A&E downgraded this week and my hospital is now the Acute centre. As a result parking is abominable. I arrived at 8.50 this morning and had great difficulty finding a space. Luckily I arrive before 8am most days so it's not so bad, but when I do clinics at other hospitals and then have to return to base it's a nightmare. Not only do we not have reserved parking but we have to pay for it as well. It's a joke.

I hope your Dad is recovering.

I hate finishing too late. Others stay beyond but I'm usually home for 7.

Can't wait for us to open 8 til 8. Allegedly.

Hospital parking's a real problem and it's getting worse.

When I was in gainful employment I travelled the length and breadth of this realm, working in various hospitals or, letterly, needing to attend meetings, and I got in the habit of arriving early to try & secure a little space for my faithful steed. Most notorious hospitals at the time were Nottingham City, Preston, Addenbrook's Cambridge, Derby Royal Infirmary,  and Exeter. I used to run a clinic At St. Bart's in London once a week and trying to get past the gatekeeper at the entrance to the inner sanctum was a constant battle.

When I worked at the Medway hospital in the 1980s there was a lovely green around which the old hospital buildings were built. Helicopters would land there to deliver spinal cases and we would play the odd interdepartmental cricket match on fine summer days. It's now a multistory car park. And you still can't park...

In the days when i worked for a living i had to go to the odd meeting at a Heathrow Hotel. Parking was hopeless but i soon latched onto the system. The hotel had an employee looking after the parking and he always had several bays coned off. You either got turned away OR as he came up to your car you lowered your window and with 5 quid in your hand said,i need a parking spot mate.......job done.

Actually Bruce, is that am or pm?

I'll bet you don't provide an on-call service, the bane of my life. It's one thing, along with all the bureaucracy, I won't miss when I retire in 7 years 2 weeks and 6 days time.

Old man is still in Kingston hospital and i pop in to see him for an hour a day. Have to say this morning was  a real eye opener for me,and showed me what the REAL world is all about. The work the ward staff were having to do for not big wages. He is in a side ward of 6,the guy in the next bed had just messed himself, another chap was being fed his porridge, spoon by spoon, and a 3rd chap could not even hold his water glass to take his pills. I have had a few knocks over the last few years, but watching the nurses this morning made me think how lucky i am.

Things are starting to move with my 2 ops Steve. Had my pre op inspection today, only downside was  the 45 mins wait for a blood test. What did piss me off thou was while we had to wait almost an hour,2 prison officers came in with a prisoner(from nearby Wandsworth) guy was handcuffed and chained to an officer, and they jumped the entire que and went strint in.

Good luck with the op h. Do you have a date yet?

Sometimes waiting is inevitable, even for the us docs. On Tuesday the One Stop Shoulder Clinic I run couldn't start until 3pm because the Haematology Clinic overran. My wife wasn't best pleased as I was late home for the surprise Birthaday dinner she had planned for me.
