Sounds like a good deal
Yes, still have the CBR, have owned it from new ( 2001) and still only has 12000 miles on the clock.
Also own a BMW R1200 GS (2006) that has 30k on the clock.
Been a petrol head all my life and a Long list of bikes through the years. My favourite "old" bike was the Suzuki 1100 katana, many years ago, an absolute beast in its day.
Would love a triumph some day and always wanted a triton, but only so many bikes you can own( and Hardly ever ride ). Old age you know !!
Also drive a beast of a car, an Audi 4.2 Quattro V8. Love that low down v8 rumble
Nice choice of bikes your other half has
Keep the faith
Paul
If that ever happens, you will always be welcome to call in !

I had one of the first model CBR600RRs when I lived in Aus. It was a breakthrough bike at the time, improving on nearly all aspects of the CBR600, provided you thought the more aggressive riding position, harder seat, harder suspension and peakier/revvier motor were improvements. The 600RRs have moved on substantially since then, with upside down forks, radial caliper mounts, more power (at even higher revs, I think) and much lighter weight. I think ABS brakes are even an option now. Bet the seat is still a bitch, though.
I did quite a few track days with it, which is really the only place to ride it properly fast.
Have fun out there. Keep the rubber-side down, as they say.
I am sure they have moved on in recent years but my beast is still a 0-60 in 3.5 secondes and 180mph model.
Unfortunately at 54 tender years my brain and body do not work as well or as fast as the bike.
The great love I have for it , is the fact it is a very forgiving bike that is solid on the road, so even when I cock things up, I still remain in the seat.
Shame I cannot say the same for the Beemer, an absolute dog of a ride

Suprised at this as I am very happy with my R1200rt but then I'm seven years older than you and 6 of my other 7 bikes are all older than me! Maybe we should start a bikers' section over in the Padded Cell
My nomination for the thread that went off topic within the fewest number of responses (2).
Which cheese board would you suggest I get?

A Tesco wooden one, Ron.
I like wood. I have Palisander in my living room. I'm redecorating at the moment, but I'm not sure what colour to paint the walls. What do you suggest........ ?

Very good Ron, and i would suggest a board that has a dedicated space for the chutney

Pev,
sorry about that, i probably over stated it. These things are all relative. The Beemer is so heavy and such a high ride height that it tends to drop into the corners and is much less stable than the CBR, but different bikes and different riding techniques, etc.
Yes we should start a bike thread and discuss everyones machines. i see there is a similar thread fo the non engined versions !!

I believe the Americans have gone straight past cheese board DR and gone straight to spray cheese !
As for bikes it will have to be turbo options, or nitrous
