Petra

I've been to Petra a couple of times when visiting Jordan re work, the last time was about 20 years ago.

Mrs D would like to go.

There are a couple of cruise itineraries that call into Aqaba with day trips to Petra and also Wadi Rum. They also seem to call at ports in Egypt.

Alternatively, we could take a 7/10 day Jordanian tour flying to Amman with a couple of days in Petra/Wadi Rum and time to visit Karik and the usual other sights in Jordan

Has anybody been on either type of trip recently and feel able to make recommendations ?

Cheers

We did a day trip from Eilat and it was a pretty punishing drive, and kept feeling like it would have been nice to stop and spend more time. So, I don't have any recommendations as far as Jordan is concerned. But, I'd recommend against the day trip from Aqaba if you have other options.

Both times I have been, have involved a drive either from Aqaba or from Amman, so the drive probably wouldn't put me off, providing we had an early start and late return to make the most of our time in Petra.

I haven't done an overnight stay near Petra so have only done one-day visits.
