Members AWOL!

Posted by: Dustysox on 08 January 2013

G'day,

I've noticed recently a lot of the "ol" crowd seem to have disappeared, or are posting less frequently, eg Dark Bear, Polar Bear, Gale 401 Geoff C and loads more besides.

I welcome new members, but I am puzzled by the absence of well respected whose input I very much miss reading about.

Evolution? Not sure, but guys...please come back....miss you

Derek,

I am six hours behind replying to you, in the interest of keeping the reader up to speed I therefore use the reply with quote button.

If after six hours I just replied who on earth would know what I was talking about.....don't answer that

If not why is this facility available?

Maybe Hoopla put it there by mistake....dam, can't I win any of these arguments

The internet can be a wonderful tool, it is how ever two dimenional and one has to make ones self very clear on various points, hence using an icon to reinforce the comment was very much "tongue in cheek".

Anyway, this is way off topic..hold on a mo, maybe I've answered my own question

Agreed kevin

I am not being personal CBR600, but did you not say two hours ago that comments should not be personal?  I suppose there is nothing in the forum rules about being consistent.

Maybe I'm just a pacifist !

Moderation in everything.

I have no issue with challenging banter as long as it doesn't get offensive.

What happened to the bloke who had 22,000 + posts???

Arguments are entertaining.

What is interesting is that these arguments can - and often do - become "personal".

We do not know each other, have never met, may live in completely different part of the world, speak a different language... Yet despite all these obstacles and differences, we still manage to irritate each other!

Is this not wonderful?

PS. If you read this: f&%*  you!

I take your point, but you have hit the nail on the head what is wrong with the world.

It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice!!!

Cue the cliches!

Posted on: 10 January 2013 by Derek Wright

but Dusty - the ability to quote has always been available on forums for the last 30 odd years  - even on 3270 type terminals - it was called copy and paste.

Posted on: 10 January 2013 by Dustysox

True Derek, but what has that got to do with the price of peas!!!

My point is directing conversation. If what you say is true why does the "reply...multi quote" button exist?

As you say, I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Otherwise this will go round and round and....

Again off topic.

I've heard most Canadians do count.  At least to nine, no problem.  It's when they get to the double digits most begin to struggle.  Every Canadian I know can readily spot the number of beers gone from a six-pack

We've actually become quite good at it, but the best ones keep leaving :

Here's what we've learned so far in this thread :

You read my mind Jan.

Now what am I thinking

Why? Don't Canadians have ten fingers? Is it a genetic thing? A Mounty always gets his man but leaves one of his fingers behind or something.

My apologies, Jamie.  I'll give you to ten, and probably to 20 when it's warm enough to take off your boots.

Dustysox

back on topic....

I presume you mean me! Mentioned in dispatches eh - nice to be remembered ! Well, yes I am guilty of being absent without regular posting, but I have frequently been here - if not in 'type' !

So many can speak of naim products and other important things far more eloquently than I, but if I have anything useful to say I will make an effort.

In fact, I was going to reply in the DAC-V1 and NAP 100 thread today and perhaps because it is Naim 40th year I will try harder to be more frequent. Naim certainly changed my life for the better after all !

Good to have you back Geoff.

Now we seem to have lost Allen B & Ken C?

Nice sit down with  great music and maybe a drink? Eh Peter.

Posted on: 20 January 2013 by Don Atkinson

Hi Peter and welcome back !!

Yes, I did read your post but please don't be upset about that. I knew there was a mis-understanding (it happens to us all, doesn't it !) so started to draft a reply to clear things up. However, thanks to Julian H (many, many thanks Julian) I don't need to do anything other than say many thanks for the apology Peter, that is truly appreciated and I am so glad that you are back - and enjoying your music !

Cheers

Don
