Motorbike photos

Ok guys (and gals), a few people have suggested starting a thread showing forum members motorbikes.

Hopefully used by interested bikers of the leather clad type (rather than the Lycra), no offence.

Here goes with an earlier bike I used, but now sold on

Nice - but what makes it a difficult ride ?

Now heres the pic of my CBR600. This is my favourite of current bikes. Not that you should have favourites. I try to share the love.

Its just so heavy and very high ground clearance so the centre of grativty is high off the ground.

When you drop the bike into the corners, it lterally does that, it just drops and is hard to keep on the wheels (relatively speaking, compared to the CBR)

Not sure if anyone saw a bike series a few years ago, with Ewan McGregor doing a round the world bike trip. He used this very bike model, and he was forever falling off the thing.

Even stood still, just lean the bike to one side slightly and the damn thing pulls you over

I did have a TS 250 for about a year, was going to take it off road ,but every where I found it was populated by kids zooming about.

Too old to be intentionally humiliated

A buddy and I rented a couple of KTM 990 Adventures s a few years back and rode south from Santiago for a few weeks. Recommended. Unlike the GS1200R (allegedly), these bikes were an absolute doddle to ride. Super-easy.

Very tasty Winky, specially if it had that swing arm

Heres my 2 babies together. Tend to use the BMW as the winter bike and the Honda as the summer ride.

Have to share the love

That being said, i probably only ride the bikes a dozen times a year between them

Yep, that's the suspension it had. "Unit Pro-link" (or something) it was called. Strange set up where the shock didn't directly attach to the frame. It sat between two(?) links just behind the swingarm pivot. Apparently adapted from MotoGP RC211V.

Like the photos of the KTM's. They are great bikes.

Always fancied getting a big Duke

I think Ewen and Charlie were actually on 1100s for the one through Europe and Canada/US. Even heavier! They had 1200s for the trip in Africa.

Nice CBR Winky. Did you risk yourself on the streets of Vancouver with that? I usually preferred to stay off road. Much safer!

Nah. I had that back when I lived in Oz. I lived in the Hunter Valley where there is some great road riding. The most fun I had was at the track, though. Safer, too.

Sandy,

You've not said yet, what is the bike in the picture?

Posted on: 11 January 2013 by Cbr600

Picture of the Yamaha FS1E, the very first of my bikes, around 1975 ish

Moved up to this monster next. The mighty Honda CB200
Used to have. Rubber strip that ran up the petrol tank and I was sure it was a nacker protector

It was such a radical design in its time

OK. I'll play.

BSA A10 built from boxes of bits. I don't go in for bikes in my dotage. I got it out of my system long ago. Happy days.

Posted on: 11 January 2013 by Redmires

And my first bike. Not this actual one as I don't have any photo's.

Harry,

I recall my dad used to ride BSA bantams and a gold star, is that anything like an A10 ?
