Motorbike photos

Ok guys (and gals), a few people have suggested starting a thread showing forum members motorbikes.

Hopefully used by interested bikers of the leather clad type (rather than the Lycra), no offence.

Here goes with an earlier bike I used, but now sold on

As I initiated the thread, I like to think I have a very keen interest in the topic, hence the Comments.

I don't see anything wrong with showing an interest in others posts.

As for my post above, I don't see it being a waste, it was a Genuine enquiry on who the Gallic beauty was. This has resulted in me finding out a little about her, including her foray into music !

I think Adam was merely observing that the name of the person is actually directly above the picture.  Hence the question "Who is she anyway?" could be construed as lazy.

King size,

You may be right, in which case I apologise, but my take is that knowing Kevin and his photo posts, for all I know , she could have been his wife, and I would not wish to be intrusive

Anyway, back to the bikes

I recall in my courting days, one girlfriends dad used to ride one of these, after taking a couple of years to restore it. Loved the look of the fishtail exhaust.

Then one weekend, trundling along at 30 mph and was flattened by a car. Poor man spent a few weeks in hospital and never rode bikes again

A couple of bikes to complete my biking history. I traded in my GTR for one of these as I thought it was my dream bike. Be careful what you dream for I suppose as it was one of my least enjoyable bikes I've had. Too big, too heavy, didn't brake or handle. The best thing about it was the heated grips.

Honda ST1100 Pan European [1994 - 2003)

*(not my actual bike but same model/colour)

For me, I would certainly have preferred the GTR. I think there were a number of bikes around that time that took on a similar style, and recall it bing a "euo-plastic"period.

At least the ST was a shaft and no chain replacement ( I think?)

So i got rid of the ST1100 after a year and decided to support the new British bike industry by going for a Hinkley Triumph. I always wanted a Triumph but didn't want an old Meridan one so was delighted when Bloor relaunched the brand. This was a mid-90's Triumph Sprint 900 and my first chain bike for many years.

Family came along in mid-90's so my swap from shaft to chain wasn't as important as I didn't do the mileage any more. This was part exchanged for the Sprint ST in 2000.

This is yours truly trying out some old British iron a few years ago. Thanks for the experience but I'll stick with the modern stuff

I had an 855 Triumph Sprint and then a 955 and then a 1050. I reckon the 955 was the best and they are a real bargain now on the used market - decent ones seem to go for £2k or less.

Only moved to a BMW because  knee problems meant the Triumph footrests were too high to give me a decent leg angle (I'm 6'3").

A serious question now. I have seen these on the road a couple of times. Has anyone tried one ?

Have also spotted the odd one, every now and then. Never ridden one but would love to ty it out, looks like good fun. Would that be classed as a scooter rather than a bike?

On the Norton, I don't remember this at all, but I take it this was an attempt at a rotary?

It became a production bike in the late 80's. I have seen these on the odd rare occasion.

So, any Bimoto riders out there ?

No "motorcycle-dreaming" thread is complete without this. The best "backyard" bike of all time. We will never see anything else like it again. John Britten's visionary and revolutionary masterpiece.

Winky,

Care to elaborate on the bike details?

Or even more details on the background !
