AppleTV to Sonos Connect...how big of an upgrade?

Looking for some advice from the Naimerati here .

Sorry if this has been asked before, but there seems to be a lot of buzz about the little Sonos Connect here and I was wondering if anyone has upgraded directly from the Atv to the Sonos?

I'm using a 252/SC2, 200 into Linn Kans (CDS3/XPS2 cd source). Lately I've been streaming through my MacMini/AppleTV2 into my Fostex HP A7 DAC. I'm not sure if this DAC is available outside Japan, but it's not bad and retailed at about £500 when I bought it (current price around £350).

What improvements could I expect from a bog-standard, unmodded Sonos (maybe to be modded later), over the Atv?

I've also just started using the Plex media server on the jailbroken Atv, instead of iTunes...great for streaming avi movies etc off my various NFS disks. It's totally transformed my viewing...don't know why I didn't do it earlier!

The ATV upsamples to 48 kHz, the Sonos doesn't and plays it bit perfectly. Unless Apple has upgraded ATV since I bought mine then its performance would remain on the same level as the Sonos... I would not see it as huge upgrade. The Sonos is more accurate so your DAC may benefit with Naim DAC I cannot hear much difference. The Sonos's forte is networking and user interface.- suitably modified though then the Sonos will shine.

maybe I shall stick with what I have now, as it's all working quite smoothly anyway. I'm sure at some point I'll think of getting a higher end solution, but not just yet.
