NDX-2 on it's way?

Posted by: MontyMusic on 15 January 2013

I've noticed a couple of dealers selling fairly new ex demo stock of the NDX. Does this suggest a new version hitting the market or simply generating cash flow ?

I'm contemplating a move from Mac/Dac to NDX and wondered if I should wait ......

I am not so sure that dealers get advanced notice of new hardware, which is what this would imply.

NDX is nowhere as good as Mac/DAC in my view ... the NDX2 would have to be the NDS in disguise to beat the Mac/DAC ... and you still would have no option to play DSD or use room correction or izotope or ...

UberDAC ... now that is where it is at ... how about a Thunderbolt interface (no great reason for this other than my cunning planning to sell Audiophile Thunderbolt-Q cables that preserve the narrow bits at extortionate prices so I can become very rich and afford such a DAC and cables for my system).

So go forth and get that Mac n DAC or perhaps wait for the next new exiting product - there is bound to be one for the Bristol show.

Nice avatar by the way ... bring back 5 1/4 inch floppies

About 24 hours normally...

Not aware of any forthcoming new versions of the NDX at the moment, but seeing Mark Raggett on Friday so will grill him accordingly

Could you ask him about the Reference DAC, please?

Many thanks, Guy

I could be wrong but I think the OPs avatar is the sleeve from Blue Monday.

The (full-size) reference DAC might be preceeded by a DAC-V2, with essentially fine-tuned DAC circuitry (incl. 1704K chips) in a V1 case and with V1-connectivity plus iPod, without internal PSU and with a fitting half-size V2-XPS-DR. Together approx. 3k, this is my hunch.

Hi Tony,

I guess you did not get an answer from naim on plans for future DACs, particularly the V2 or DAC2 or DAC555?

Many thanks,

Stefan

Visit cancelled due to excessive (for the UK) snow. Hoping to see Mark this coming Friday.

Whether there will be anything to say is another matter

Cheers

Good catch up with Mark today, but nought to report relating to this thread or other matters mentioned therein, I'm afraid. Sorry to disappoint, but that's it, hot off the press.

Mind you, the Bristol Show is not so far off, so we all might find out something new then

But, don't ask, as I know nothing more.
