UnitiQute waiting at home

Posted by: Poggy on 17 January 2013

Well, after a number of hiccups, resulting in me getting the higher spec model and a bit of a delay, my UnitiQute is waiting for me at home. I am soooo excited.

Congrats Poggy,

Did you end up with the 32/192 version or the 24/192. It would be interesting to hear your reports. Locally, there is an interesting offer for a 2010 model 24/96 bundled with a PLine but I am still undecided if i should go for the latest version instead. Enjoy! Vik

Tbh not sure - defo a 192 version as it streams my alac files. In fact, I was utterly amazed how quickly i set it up - it saw my server and library straight away and picked up the Internet radio stations - literally hundreds of them. So easy to set presets too. Really like the clock and date function when muted.

not had much of  a chance to listen to it properly yet. Definitely a different sound to the nait 5i but pretty sure I'm getting much more detail than the iPhone in to nait 5i was giving. I think it will show up poorly produced material quite easily but looking forward to the journey. Volume goes louder than i'll ever need so no problems with power requirements there. Next stop, Seal IV and Eric Clapton unplugged.

Amazing little box.

Congratulations! I set up my system without problems too. Don't understand why some people here are so negative about streaming just because a number of forum members have encountered problems. I am just an average computer user with no expertise in computing or networking.

Having now had a reasonable listen to and play with it, i have nothing but praise for it. It digs out detail in tracks i haven't heard before, even my wife commented on this.

i particularly enjoy acoustic tracks and you can really hear the atmosphere on live recordings such as Eric Clapton's MTV Unplugged. I haven't got round to my Foo Fighters and Pink Floyd albums yet but i'm looking forward to it.

One thing i must do is try an alac track vs a wav version to see if can pick out any differences.

I believe it plays 32 bit files by the way - I downloaded a trial track which worked ok.

Congrats on your new Naim. I also picked up a UnitiQute five months go, but the older 24/96 version. I've since paired it up with the KEF R100 speakers and am loving the setup. Brilliant detailed sound and amazing wide soundstage.

At some point in the future I might purchase the new Naim NAP100 power amp and do a bi-amp setup, which should give a bit more presence in the low end.

Every room should have a Qute installed !!!

I have two now, 24/192 streaming to my nDac and a 24/96 in another room, an amazing value product from Naim

Hi! Based on naim specs, UQ doesn't support ALAC files, is this true?

No. UnitiQutes with the upgraded boards (24/192) can play ALAC.

Great! Then it will be my next Naim device, residing on my bedroom, most likely with Totem Arros!

Qute's are simply brilliant, mine is in my office system partnered with a pair of Kans, and even makes a lovely sound through my Ovator S400's from time to time. A future classic in the making for sure.
