Synology problems

Posted by: mudwolf on 19 January 2013

I have really had a problem with the 411 I bought, it doesn't seem to work now with Nstream.  I have the whole Beatles collection on the 411 but with Nstream I only have 1 album to access.  It has been too complicated for me to use being windows and I'm on Mac, and I'm not savvy enough to figure it out. A friend up the street who  set it up is off on other projects was impatient with me last time 4 months ago.

I either have to  pay for a tech guy from Geek Squad or buy a different Hard drive that is mac based which I"m thinking would be best. What are the drives that are Mac based?

What exactly are the problems you're having?

I've used Synology for almost 2 years without any problem.  Works fine with Nstream on my IPad.

Well just loading music on my mac and getting it into the 411 .  I also downloaded some HiDef classical from Linn and don't know how to get that from the file onto the hard drive.

Some things are on the 411 and down't show up in Nstream. I've spent hours trying to figure out this stuff and have way too many other things to do, get frustrated, put it off for a few weeks and try to get back to it.  I tried getting on Synology forum to read but don't even understand what the answers are.

I use a Mac too.  If you click on "Finder" on your Mac, you should be able to see the Synology drive under "Shared."

All I do is simply copy the music file over onto the Synology drive.

Not sure what you mean by "Some things are on the 411 and down't show up in Nstream."  Do you have  all your music files on a single "Music" folder on the Synology?

Synology are pretty much indifferent as to whether you are a pc or mac user.  Have you downloaded the user guide from the Synology website support section, there are some basic set up things you need to do to get this working.
