Determining iPad version?
Posted by: Gavin B on 25 January 2013
How can I check what version my iPad is?
It's supposed to be an iPad2, but how do I know for sure?
Gavin
Look for the model number either on the back of the device or in
Settings
General
About
Then either Google the number and some one will have posted the answer or if you are a Mac user download MacTracker and and search for the model number. This will give you the model.
a quick and obvious check is, ipad 1 does not have a camera !!
no there is a version higher than an iPad 2.
iPad 1: The one with square edges - looks nothing like later models, really
iPad 2: Rounded edges but same display as 1
iPad 3: Looks like 2 but slightly thicker and has retina display
iPad 4: Exactly like 3 but better processor and GPU and lower power consumption (better battery life?) and better front camera
Thanks, everyone, for your replies - I'm convinced I have an iPad2 (which is what it claimed to be).
I'm having trouble connecting it to my TV. I bought an iPad - HDMI cable and plugged it in, but nothing appears on the TV (having selected the correct AV channel). The cable claims to be compatible with iPad2 and above.
I'll have to check other things.
Tell us the model number and I will look it up on Mactracker
I pad 4 also has double the pixels and new lightning socket.

John.
I pad 4 also has double the pixels and new lightning socket.
It went to "retina display" (four times the pixels) with the iPad 3.
