Fleetwood Mac To Tour The UK Later This Year.

Posted by: Gale 401 on 31 January 2013

Mick was talking on BBC Radio 2 this morning.

Month mentioned was October for England.

Stevie and Lindsey had started work on new songs a while back but Stevie's mother died.

It was put on the back burner until now.

They are going to tour and play some new stuff with a album to follow, against the norm of release a new album and just tour it.

Stu.

Peter Green, Danny Kirwain ... If only ... everything's AOR ... Oh Well.

There is a very very  big  chance of Peter and others turning up to play IMO,

Mick said its not a tour to promote a new album but the right time just to play for the fun of it.

As much as I'd like to support Stu's optimism I'm doubt that this can not ever be seen anymore:

(Line up at the Boston Tea Party: Peter Green – guitar, vocals / Jeremy Spencer – guitar, vocals, piano / Danny Kirwan – guitar, vocals / John McVie – bass guitar / Mick Fleetwood – percussion, drums)

Is this recent news? I'd heard last year that PG had turned down the offer.

PG's Fleetwood Mac and the Buckingham Nicks Fleetwood Mac are two completely different bands linked only by their rhythm section. The original group, for me, were the best british blues band ever, the latter incarnation were a good AOR band who produced some good songs in the '70s.

I've seen both bands in their prime and enjoyed all their shows but if I could go back in time it would be to see Peter Green's outfit.

Apparently the plan originally was for Peter Green to have a 20 minute slot in the middle of the set but he's not well enough to be able to do it. No Christine McVie either but she just chooses not to.

We went to see Fleetwood Mac play in the last tour here expecting them to be AOR, largely because that highly polished sound is I what I associate with their studio recordings. However they are entirely different performing live as, against a backdrop of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie's rhythm section, Lindsey Buckingham played spellbinding guitar and sang every song as if it were a painful memory. Which it probably was. And Stevie Nicks was excellent too.

The upshot is; don't be sniffy about this band, they are very very good at what they do.

Don't mean to highjack the thread but  saw Mick this afternoon on a tv show and when asked if he's taken his kids to a concert, he replied that he's "taken them to see Justin B and  quite enjoyed it as well". Can't get more rock'n'roll than that.  The beauty of fatherhood...

 Back to you now...

You wouldn't see Danny Kirwan do that .... in fact I doubt we'd see Danny at all ... very sad really: one of the great talents

Everything I've read says she's absolutely done with the gig.  Happy to walk her dogs in the English rain.

according to the The telegraph:

"This Monday, a three-disc, 35th anniversary boxset of Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 masterpiece Rumours will be released."

Head a track from it just a min ago on Radio 2. rather good me thinks...

enjoy

The last couple times that we saw her, she seemed bit past it, to be honest.
