Why thanks.

Right click on image and open in new tab improves the picture. The forum somehow doesn't do posted images any justice.

The unmatched realism of a Ken Marschall painting:

Lusitania foundering.

This is one of his most amazingly realistic - I wish I could have found one larger - the detail on the rivets is unbelievable.  When I first say it I thought it was a colorized photo paint over.

Probably as close as you can get to being there:

About 12:45 AM, as the first boats were being lowered.

Not a Ken Marschall, but a beautiful rendering of the greatest Italian liner, the Rex, which briefly held the Blue Riband before the Normandie wrested it away.  Seen here passing the Ambrose lightship  on the way into New York.

We used to see this beauty from my mums flat in Seaford.

PS Waverley used to come out of Newhaven. She had come down south from Scotland I believe.

I experienced this once for 15 hours and nothing would tempt me onto a boat ever ever again. G

Yes!  Except it was the outside view. It was not pleasant! see below. G

Horrendous. It must be truly frightening knowing that you cannot escape the situation. Part of me would like to experience it and part of me wouldn't, if that makes sense.

Announcements were coming on to tie children down for safety. It was terrifying and we endured it twice as the first outing from port was sent back after 2hrs making no headway!  G
