Political Life - At What Point Do You Lose All Perspective?

Hune's eventual admission is no surprise, but the level to which he (apparently) sank in embroiling his family is surely an all time low.

What drives these intelligent people to do such utterly stupid self-regarding things?

What do you expect from a Liberal Democrat? They never know which side of the fence to sit.

He's a psychopath.

+1,  no change that,  fits a few more than Hune,  x100

It is probably easy to think they are all the same & I am maybe taring a lot of good people with the wrong brush,  but it sort of fits quite a few.

He was just very "liberal " with the truth!

The text between Hune and his poor son beggars belief.  Sociopath springs to mind. No wonder he couldn't face the jury.  G

Nothing new here with politicians. Do you remember in the late nineties Jonathan Aitken's 'sword of truth' speech when mounting a libel case against the Guardian that had effectively accused him of perjury? He eventually got 18 months for perverting the course of justice.  And more recently some of the blatant expense fiddles which would have seen most people sacked and prosecuted for fraud.

They must know the truth when they are robustly denying accusations.

Then we need to consider those that (maybe) played with the truth & (who knows) kidded the cabinet/senate & the rest of the world into things like Iraq despite that the rest of the world was >80% against/didn't believe it.

Problem is no court has ever challenged those decisions

Guy is a total out and out Dick Head. All he had to do is hold his hand up and say yeah i have been speeding, press would have sold a few more papers for a day or two and it would have all blown over. Its not as if he had been caught stealing or in bed with a lady of the nite, lets face it we ALL speed.Judges,coppers,everyone. If he had lost his licence for a year he could have used public transport or cadged lifts.

I think he lost his licence a bit later anyway when the Police caught him driving while using his mobile!
