The Family Cat - "Five Lives Left" (new anthology album)

Have to declare a vested interest - John who was the bass player in the Family Cat - is a good friend of mine, although I met him pretty much at the end of the band's career, as he ended up working with me in the wine trade.

The Family Cat never really 'made it' big. They should have. The wine trade would be worse for it, but music wouldn't!

But he and Fred (Paul Frederick) have just assembled a 2 CD compilation of their favourite tracks, including some cleaned up versions and rarities. It's really good. And I'm not just saying that.

Available in the usual places, but direct via the record label, 3 Loop Music, is probably the most rewarding avenue. Excellent guitar based pop, fantastic melodies and vocal strength.
