WIMP streaming service is beta testing cd quality streaming

WiMP one of the smaller streaming services, have announced that they are going to stream in 320 aac format. More or less the same level as Spotify premium, however they are according to this article testing cd quality streaming. For now a closed beta test, but very interesting that we are close to cd quality streaming.

Qobuz.com has been offering cd-flac streaming from day 1. It is only on wireless devices they stream mp320, but even then you can choose to download it first and still play it as cd-flac.

So IMHO not so special, but more like "what keeps the rest from doing it also ...?"

Well I kind of disagree. Mainly because WiMP is the first one with an up to date catalogue of contemporary popular music - popular in the perhaps broader sense of indie/rock/punk/postpunk/etc.

Qobuz was/is pretty nice, but the selection doesn't compare to WiMP from my personal point of view, tastes and interests. Though I should add that its perhaps particularly interesting for citizens in the nordic countries as WiMP is local to us.
