Music when you're down

Does music help you when you're down? Not in my case:I first have to resolve that situation then music helps me to come back to a proper nice feeling.

If one is facing-off something in life, sometimes the magic world of music gives a respite from the worrying.

After the time in music-land, one may actually come back to the problems and see the possible solution or correct action to take with clarity. As if the musical diversion actually allows the mind the same sort of mental quietude as "sleeping on it."

If I EVER hear Lola by The Kinks I just have to smile. I'm not a tranny or owt, honest! Thinking about it, The Kinks usually cheer me up in many ways, but Lola sometimes makes me laugh out loud. Tony

Probably best for you to avoid Radiohead then, Fabio!

More seriously, I certainly enjoy music more if I'm feeling up and I also find it can be a very good way to release the stress from a hard day at the office. Typically I find after the couple of tracks I find the music increasingly takes my attention and pushes out the thoughts and worries that have accumulated during the day.

Yes, if I can find a piece that captures the state I'm in. The amazing thing with music is that there is no limit to the range and nuance of emotions and mental states that can be expressed. When I hit on the one track that resonates, it's a relief, as if, "Hey, someone else was in exactly the same space and he (or she) understands".

The Beatles Blue Album. As soon as Strawberry Fields came on I'd sit down, smile and relax.

If picking oneself up with happy music is what you need, play anything by Yello, they always make me feel jolly and change my mood for the better.

However, sometimes my melancholy is too deep for happy music to be on the same brain-wave-length, so i tune in to Cat Power, the album 'Myra Lee' [which is not for the faint hearted] is the most sympathetic for when one can only be consoled with inconsolable music. Sometimes it’s best to have a good cry too, makes you stronger apparently.

Why isn’t this thread in the music room?

Thanks Jan-Eric,TomK and Kevin.Thank you Debs,I decided to post this thread here,Music Room could have been a better place,as you suggested.

Also would like to thank Steve J for considering that English is not my first language.A real Gentleman. Now let see another Gentleman.Yes the one with the chuckling wife,as he said.Really don't understand him. What tranny and Lola got to do with my simple question on this thread?Does my question deserve Priscilla film pic he uploaded or is it a family portrait?

Perplexed.
