I feel that high-res downloads should be seen as re-issues. Are we getting the extra bits we're paying for? And, more importantly, do those extra bits make it sound better than the CD version?
From casual evidence, high-res downloads run the gambit of special recording projects, remastered for high-res versions, co-incidental high res releases of CD remastering projects, to simple transfers, to pure "save as at a higher bit rate" deception.
I'll start off the first post the next post in more detail when I get a chance. Bob Marley - Legend at 24/96 from HD Tracks. Quick review, I'm happy to report, is "sounds great"
