Anyone else discovered Bandcamp download website?

http://bandcamp.com/

Found and downloaded the new Woodpigeon album here and discovered a music posting/purchasing website that seems to contain a huge amount of content that is easily listened to and covers various genres. Some rather homespun but more mainstream artists too-such as Sufjan Stevens.

Several things have already caught my ear in just a half hour of flicking around. Fair bit appears free or 'name your price' and what is not is pretty cheap and it looks like everything comes in FLAC too.

Worth a look around.

Yes, I have used it in the past. Great to see the choose your format option and to be able to purchase and download music cheaply and quickly. You've remind me to have a look at it again!

Hi Bruce,

I've used Bandcamp to buy new music for a couple of years. I like the idea of Bands promoting their releases directly to the public and getting more money for their artistry. I recently joined the Bandcamp fan account, where you can share your purchases and see what other users buy in addition to liking what you do.

My Vinyl & CD (with free FLAC download) purchases have been...

Antlered Man, Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo, The Cairo Gang, Cyril Snear, Daughter, Field Music, Guapo, Randy McStine, Sufjan Stevens, To Kill A King, Thumpermonkey

Though Dutch, the website from Music4Hifi is worth a big recommendation. It only has Audiophile CD's that can be ordered and sent fro a reasonable transport fee. Even if one is not speaking Duch, navigation through the site is very easy. Bought some great CD's there from Allan Taylor, Sara K. Chris Jones and many others: http://www.music4hifi.nl/home.php

Bought the 'Oh Hellos'. A name-your-price download. Not a miilion miles from The Decembrists I think. Plenty more where it came from roo and great to see others have liked the site too.
