Question re Unitilite

Posted by: Reburner on 08 March 2013

I am in the process of purchasing a Unitilite and am preparing my music folders on my NAS accordingly.

I have a requirement to store different quality versions of the same music files on my NAS for playing on differing devices. Can anyone tell me if I can get the Unitilite to only pick up certain file types or read from certain directories thus ignoring lower quality audio files?

The UnitiLite is a UPnP client so any browsing / sorting / filtering functionality would need to be supported by the UPnP server that you are using ...

Many thanks. I guess I need to configure my Nas such that it only allows the unitilite to connect to directories with the appropriate files in and limits access to other folders.

Hi - the UnitiLite does not connect to any of the folders on your NAS - it *ONLY* communicates with UPnP servers so it's down to the functionality of your UPnP server and the configuration of what folders the UPnP server has access to that determines what the UnitiLite will "see".

Cheers Phil. I get what you are saying, just my clumsy use of terminology made it appear different.
Sounds like I can definitely do what i want though with a bit of configuring.

Yes - It really does all depend on your UPnP server though...
