UnitiQute upgrade

Posted by: Moobs79 on 16 March 2013

Hi there

I've been trying to upgrade my Qute firmware to 3.17 but I'm having trouble with the USB adaptor Naim tell you buy.

Basically I'm having to update from my laptop not a desktop. It took forever to get my computer to recognise the USB adaptor but that's done now. When I connect it to the Qute and start the update it doesn't matter which COM1,2 or 7 I choose it won't connect and therefore won't update.

I've tried several times restarting the laptop and Qute and tried disconnecting all wires but no luck. My dealer says he can't do it for me, any suggestions?

Cheers!

Have you installed the VCP driver kit?

Hi there Thanks for the responses. I think I've installed the cable driver correctly. I bought the cable that the Naim link sent me to.From their update manual. Perhaps I'll buy another cable, any suggestions other than Maplins as they couldn't help? Thanks

Oh, is the VCP driver kit the cable driver? Probably a stupid question I know...

I believe some adapters simply don't work, although I might be wrong on that. I bought one from Maplins which although more expensive than the cheapest you get on ebay, it does work a treat.

If you bought the Naim recommended one and have installed the software required to run it , then it should work. Mine does.

Thanks everyone! I'll try buying another adaptor, maybe I got a dud or was a little inept at installing the software...
