I went I see Paul Weller at the Royal Albert Hall yesterday for his Teenage Cancer Trust concert.
Not sure if it was the equipment used for the TCT concerts or just a really poor sound engineer, but it was appalling: distorted, load of feedback, too loud / poor quality.
i have been to RAH before for TCT and non TCT concerts and the sound has been great
Anyone else go to any of the other TCT concerts and experience the same.
Is it that sound engineers become deaf over time

I agree - saw Primal Scream there last week and the sound was poor - though not as bad as your experience at Paul W. We were up the side a bit so not optimal, and maybe they suffer from a 'One size fits all' situation at the TCT gigs, but the sound was screechy and had nowhere near the punch and weight of their Brixton gig last year.
Having said that, I find Bobby Gillespies live vocals often sound sibilant, so maybe their sound engineer has gone a bit mutton in the higher registers?

We went to see Paul Weller at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 25th March and were really disappointed as the sound was dreadful....it was distorted, screechy, far too loud and you couldn't hear the lyrics! People were sitting with their hands over their ears and some left early!!! We had really been looking forward to seeing him and after the poor sound quality don't feel like we saw or heard him at all! Not going to RAH again for a pop concert! We have complained to RAH.
