A great line up of artists for 2013!

But no ticket for me

If you are going who are you looking forward to see and if you are not going who would you like to have seen?

Is it just me then? Glastonbury - the large corporate event for middle class people to pretend they're hip by slumming it. That would explain why Mumford and the Stones are in there then

middle (and upper) class people like music too !

Yeah, they might. But usually at separate gatherings without any disturbing riff raff.

Went in 2007/2008/2010 but haven't got a ticket (yet) for this year.

In this years line up top of my interest list is Primal Scream, Vampire Weekend (saw them in 2010), Portishead (for the bass!), Two Door Cinema Club, the Orb & Indigenous People, Steve Winwood (legend) and Sérgio Mendes (legend). After that, the many others to get to know better and discover !

I think Mike, as usual, has nailed it.

The so-called headline acts leave me cold too but there is some interesting stuff further down the bill. My favourite band name on the line up this year is Molitov Jukebox although I admit to never having heard their music.

Thing is. I've seen the genuinely interesting stuff down the bill in much more pleasant circumstances; with better sound and at a better cost. Glastonbury is a facsimile of a festival nowadays. Almost a caricature. Heritage acts to raise money and so on.

MadDog Mcrea on the Avalon Stage, brilliant live band.

No need to worry anymore about how much of a prat you will look with your hair braided because i have just seen on the news that Glastonbury has been cancelled. Something about the ground not being able to recover from the extraordinary amount of snow/water we have had over the winter. Ray

Check the date guys!

Rock on Glasto - I'll be there (checking your wristband for Oxfam).

Over the years I have successfully avoided getting a ticket and yet again, thankfully for this year I have succeeded, who would pay for the Rolling Stones children inheritance fund ?

Watching the show here California. Is that Mick Taylor playing with the stones?

Posted on: 29 June 2013 by Joe Bibb

yep.

I watched some of Glastonbury along the seafront of Eastbourne on a big screen yesterday. It was free to get in the beer was cold and was less than £4 a pint. Not a true live experience but it was very enjoyable.

Did Nick Cave not give iPlayer permission? Can't seem to find any thing of his set.

I found two songs from the mighty Nick Cave on BBC iPlayer......great stuff...loking forward to seeing him later this year!

I have read some -ve comments about The Stones first few numbers  when the BBC were authorised to show their 1 hour slot as being long and rambling. I must admit I am reluctant to agree as regards Midnight Rambler.

But just seen an additional clip on the BBC of their opening number Jumpin' Jack Flash and they were on mighty form...excellent!

I thought Mick's voice has failed, doing the old Sinatra trick of speaking the lines, also saw a clip of some guy in red leather absolutely awful voice. Can no one tell these people enough is enough?

I guess it depends on your point of view. I saw the Stones in Toronto and thought on the whole that they were outstanding... but for me the absolute musical highlight was when Mick Taylor was on the stage. Rambling yes... but interesting and engaging. The best musicianship of the night for me.

The Stones BBC footage was curious as 'Miss you' is clearly not a show starter.  The crowd had a feast of 'hits' before they slowed things down a bit - just when the broadcast went live.

A friend of mine is back from the event today so I'll get his take on the actual show.  G

GraemeH,

Yes the timing of the 1 hour slice that The BBC got was it a bit off. It would have been better if it had started earlier to pick up some apparent stormers when they openned.

I suspect Jagger wanted to ensure they had warmed up by the time the TV audience got to see them. But then after Midnight Rambler it did.

But all in all I enjoyed it and wished I had been there in the front row!

The Stones started with Jumping Jack Flash - Its only Rock n Roll - Gimme Shelter.

The BBC only where allowed to show the last hour.

I thought the comments from Wiley and the other guy  presenting when the Stones left after their set for the encores was so flat,no wow what a great set from the stones !

Then after satisfaction they where more interested in making comments about Keith Richards energy drink that he picked up leaving the stage.

Really loved the Stones set.Brought a tear when they did their bow at the end.

Hopefully a DVD release will be forthcoming.

They are still a better small venue band IMHO.  Live from the Chequerboard Lounge is a fine example.

i saw them last on the 'babylon' tour with Mark Fisher's amazing telescopic bridge onto a small boxing ring stage in the middle of the crowd - that's when they played at their best.

Sadly Mark Fisher died a few days back.
