N-stream - new music only showing in 'Folder' on WD MyBookLive

Posted by: minnow on 03 April 2013

Hi

I have a Qute and a WD MyBookLive and I run the latest version of the n-stream on my ipad and iphone.  My music has been ripped into iTunes using either AIFF or Lossless, then the whole iTunes library copied to the WD.

Problem is, I loaded a dozen or so new albums recently and they all only show in the 'Folder' file on MyBookLive as seen on my iPad and iPhone.  So they are NOT visible in any of the other folder eg Album, Artist, Artist index, etc.

Why is this?

I have gone onto my NAS to check and I can't see any correlation and I have also checked my iTunes and it all seems in order.

I have even deleted my iTunes library off the WD and re-copied and it happens again.

Uggggghhhhh. Why? What should I be doing? Is there a trick in copying iTunes to WD?

New Naim DAC V-1 looking more attractive all the time.....

Thoughts, helpful tips sooooooo much appreciated.

Including NAS options to help my pain go away.

thanks

How is your UPnP server configured in terms of refresh? I think I've seem that phenomonen and maybe the folder view is always "pulled" at the time - (certainly seems to take a litte while every time you go into the folder view) whereas the Artist and Album views are cached (and typically show "immediately")?

Hi Ian -

I actually see the opposite with Asset as my UPnP server.  If I am anxious to hear an album immediately after ripping, I will do a folder search and it is always there.  It usually takes 10 minutes or so for Asset to discover there is new music, and to add the new meta data for searching by artist, album, genre, and so on.

Hi Minnow -

This sounds like what you are experiencing, except it is a lot longer than 10 minutes...perhaps forever?  I assume you are using the WD's built-in UPnP server?  Does it have any control options, like a database refresh, or adjusting how quickly it looks for new music (as Ian suggests)?

ATB.

minnow,

If I may suggest, you need to do 2 things:

1) Make sure all your files on the NAS are within the "Shared Music" folder

2) Power off your NAS

On repowering, give it 10 minutes or so (depending on the size of your music library) and you should notice a difference.

I hope that helps.
