Wireless Headst for PS3

Posted by: simon, but not simple on 05 April 2013

Can anyone tell me please whether I can use a wireless headset with a PS3? I have one for use on my PC but I cannot get it to work with the PS3. Does the headset need specific hardware for the PS3 to recognise it? Can one buy an adaptor or must I buy a PS3 specific headset?

Excuse my ignorance but my son is the gamer, not me, and the cable of his current non-wireless headset has snapped due to constant coiling of the cable, a common problem I gather.

Thanks all.

For wireless headset on a PS3 I believe you will need a bluetooth enabled headset.

I have a Sony branded one they sold for the PS3.

It goes over one ear and has a microphone.

It wasn't a replacement for proper headphone/speakers, but it worked well enough for voice chat.

There is some setup involved in the PS3's menus, but it wasn't too difficult.

If you search the web for "How to setup bluetooth headset on PS3" there are a few youtube videos and articles for you to choose from.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Nathan,

that confirms what I thought. Time to dig out my wallet again! At least there will be no cable to get in a twist.
