What was the last vinyl you bought?
Posted by: apye! on 18 January 2011
Arrived today in the post:
I picked up The Best of Timi Yuro from a charity shop the other day. (LP Dutch pressing). I hadn’t heard of her but it looked interesting and only £1.50.
What a surprise. If ever there was a case of the voice not fitting the face, this is it. And what a voice it is.
The albums consists of covers, mainly standards, soul and northern soul, and what a voice.

It is not as good as their first album, however not an album I wouldn't listen to anymore. Opening song is a good example of a nice song on the album....
Purchased for just £20 from a local supermarket (begins with S).

J.G. Thirlwell adopts the moniker Xordox for this new LP on much revered experimental imprint Editions Mego. Making music under what now encompasses almost ten different projects, Thirlwell is a busy man, but with his Xordox alias he strips his work back to basics by primarily using the synthesizer. Described by its press release as having ‘cinematic’ qualities, Neospection is an album of EMS utilising soundscapes and lush, processed ambient guitar works. Check this one out if you liked the G.S. Schray LP, the music of Charles Cohen and any previous Mego works (that should go without saying...)
