Mailed together with the fabulous new album by Nightwish, which I have on MP3, but have ordered on the black stuff

Once again this great band from Finland prove that there is more to music than X-Factor and that none of those TV talent shows have ever uncovered a truly great vocalist in the way that Nightwish has. This record features Anette Ingegerd Olsson and although she is not as strong as the amazing Tarja Soile Susanna Turunen Cabuli, she still fits nicely in to the Nightwish tradition.

Bit of a mixed bag from a second hand (charity) shop, but the condition of each was amazingly good:

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (in case my copy wears out) £4 in mint condition

Rush - 2112

America - Hideaway

America - Holiday

The Cars - Greatest Hits

Paul McCartney - Press to Play

Bobby Darrin - 20 Greatest Hits

Rod Stewart - Atlantic Crossing (never thought I'd end up with that one)

Santana - Moonflower

Got change from £30 too.

Spotted a copy of Led Zeppelin 2 with the purple label, but the LP was trashed. Shame.

Arrived yesterday from HMV - Universal/Island  £12.99

Back-to-Black version - digitally remastered but sounds okay

not sure of re-issue year, it's not the 30th anniversary edition so it may be 2009?

Successful day today at the local Oxfam. Picked up some nice clean vinyl for £36:

David Coverdale - WhiteSnake (recorded in 1976)

Joan Armatrading - Track Record

Paul Simon - Hearts and Bones

Robert Plant - Now and Zen

The History of Fleetwood Mac - Vintage Years double and virtually unplayed)

Supertramp - Breakfast in America

All cleaned and all in mint or NM condition except for the Supertramp album.

It's a great feeling when you know they've had new stock in and the owner had decent taste and looked after his (or possibly her) collection. Or had poor taste and the reason they're in good nick is they never got played. Either way, a nice result for me and Oxfam.

I didn't like this much on cd, but after hearing a friend's vinyl copy it became a must have. And besides that I've always liked the album cover.

George,

Stu, for some reason (don't know why) I expected 'Bats In The Attic Unravelled' to be an extended version, but it's not. Nevertheless I like the new take on it, plus the two new songs. Nice bit of vinyl in a decent sleeve. Was it worth nearly £9, probably not. I bought the 'Diamond Mine' album for less than that.

George,

Have you tried any Great Lake Swimmers albums?

Stu.

No, but I'll have a listen, thanks.
