Donald Fagen: Nightfly

2012 Warner Reissue that just came out this month. It's been a while since I bought any *reissues* as now I expect more than half the time I'm lucky if they sound as good as original.

My first try on a MOV reissue vinyl.

I used to play this a lot on CD in the 90s. At that time, it didnt' even occur to me it was released in vinyl as in those days, the vinyl was the thing of the past. Never thought I would be buying this album in vinyl 15 years later.

Stu, is that the double album version you have there?

My double album version has arrived from Burning Shed...

"Please note that copies are limited to one per person and that this is standard weight vinyl.

This version does not contain a poster or download card."

What other LP version is there?

Debs - nothing to worry about - if you opted for the pre-order LP pack from Roadrunner it came with   a 12inch square card signed by Wilson and Akerfeldt, and a 3 foot high poster with a picture of the two of them looking cool. Perfect for a teenager's bedroom wall. And a download card of course.

Actually the posters are a bit of a pain as they are a squeeze to fit in the cover.

The LPs will be the same mastering I reckon. The pre-order copy looks like it is 200g slabs but I like standard weight better probably.

Cheers

David

Debs,

Got mail from amazon yesterday saying there was a hold up and they didn't know when they would have it.

Its now on the site as not available yet.

So i cancelled and ordered from burning s but after reading about your copy this morning and getting the same feed back from a mate last night.

I  just rang them and cancelled that order.

I will stick with the CD for now, as i am a bit fed up with the last few bent and scratched £20 plus new vinyls i have had through of late.

Arrived today from Amazon UK on 180g vinyl first impressions v good. Both LPs are flat with no surface noise, just a slight pop and crackle on side 3. Both mastering by New* West and S/Q are excellent.

Just got some records in from Acoustic Sounds.

New 45 RPM QRP pressing. Sounds pretty damn good.

Audio Fidelity reissue. Also at QRP. Sounds fine.

Also pressed by the folks at Quality Record Pressing/Acoustic Sounds. So far I have had good luck with their work. Hopefully their investment pays off.
