As you say a good radio prog, the re-issue vinyl is v. good too, don't have an original to compare, but sounds to me as if it could've been recorded yesterday. Wish I could get to Cornbury on Sunday to see Wilko.

I've just bought a copy of that and they do say Mono on the sleeve but if you listen to the BBC radio 4 mastertapes programmes with Wilko Johnson he says its not a mono recording but simply the band playing without separation( a bugbear of his). Anyroads,if you've not heard those two radio recordings they're fabulous.

Pink, The truth about love

Posted on: 11 July 2013 by naim_nymph

Arrived Monday from Amazon uk for £26

Amazon uk have this shown as a 2 x LP album on 'Classic'

But it's not a double album, and nor on Classic.

It's a 1 x LP album, and the same Reprise label [German pressings] as the Massey Hall 2 x LP album i purchased last week.

Anyway, i messaged Amazon to say it's only 1 x LP on Reprise, they thanked me for supplying the infomation but seem to have carried on showing it to be a double vinyl on classic

Still, what i have looks like a lovely disc of vinyl, cleaned and put it by the sondek for now.

Will play it later and if it sounds good then i'm happy.

Bod Dylan - Blood On The Tracks - MFSL.

It sounds superb, the best pressing yet of Blood On The Tracks. It's full bodied, great open deep bass lines, very musical and Dylan's voice is sweet.

Well done MFSL, another gem.

I have noticed that many of the vinyl albums listed on Amazon show the description as "Disc 1 and then Disc 2, but they are in fact invariably just single albums.

I have occasionally pointed this out to them, but nothing seems to change.

Maybe they are using this as an alternate descriptor for side 1 and 2?

Posted on: 11 July 2013 by naim_nymph

Well, amazon uk replied to my email saying they have accepted my suggestion, and looking on their web-page the 'Live at the Fillmore' album record label is now shown as 'Reprise'  ...but it seems they forgot to follow up the change to 1 LP, and are still showing it as a double ablum.

At least the 'Classic' has been removed.

Classic do actually make this album on a 200g pressing which would cost a lot more than 26 quid from this side of the pond.

3 LP box set.  Mid 1970's French release (RCA - FXL3 7052). Found new in shrink at local record store, and was part of a large purchase of new old stock jazz reissues. The story I heard was that a local radio station had shut down back in the 1980's, leaving thousands of records in temperature controlled storage for over 30 years. The owner died recently, and his kids are now selling off his stuff.

This is a great live gig, with Lee Morgan on trumpet, Benny Golson on tenor, Bobby Timmons on piano, and Jymie Merritt on bass.  Very well recorded -- perfect, quiet pressings.  Feeling like a kid on Christmas morning... :-)

Benson now is getting on a vinyl release band wagon. A Concord Label so I expect it *should* sound decent.
